Locum doctors

Aim: To test the Medical Appraisal Guide on behalf of locum doctors working in England.

Background: Medacs Healthcare is the largest provider of medical staff to the NHS and the leading provider of Medical Locums and General Practitioners in the UK. Supplying into NHS Trusts (Acute, Mental Health and Community Care), GP Surgeries and the Private Sector, they have established a reputation for providing a high quality of service that In 2010, Medacs supplied over 5,671 doctors to the NHS, collectively covering 2.3 million hours.

Sample of Doctors in Pilot:  100 locum doctors, from Greater London and Greater Manchester, covering a range of grades broken down into the following specialties. 

• General Medicine - 30
• General Surgery - 20
• Emergency Medicine - 10
• Psychiatry - 20
• Anaesthetics - 10
• Obstetrics and Gynaecology - 10

DRC Locums Ltd

Aim: To test the Medical Appraisal Guide on behalf of locum doctors who have qualified outside of the UK and who practice in England.

Background: DRC Locums is a leading healthcare staffing provider to both the public and private sectors.  DRC Locums supplies locum doctors across all grades and specialties including mental health and currently work with over 1400 fully compliant locums. 

Sample of Doctors in Pilot:  

DRC Locums will provide 30 appraisals from a cross section of locums across the key grades and specialties and this will consist mostly of doctors who live outside of UK and return periodically to provide locum services.
