Doctors working in the independent sector 

Independent Health Advisory Service (IHAS)

 Aim: To test the Medical Appraisal Guide on behalf of independent doctors working in England.

 Background: IHAS deals with doctors who work in England and exclusively, or almost exclusively, outside the NHS in an isolated and relatively unmanaged environment,

IHAS will coordinate the pilot working in partnership with the Independent Doctors Federation (IDF), the British Association of Cosmetic Doctors (BACD) and the BMA Private Practice Committee (PPC)

Sample of Doctors in Pilot:  100 independent doctors working in a relatively unmanaged structure. Doctors will include: 

•  Private GPs
•  Locums
•  Cosmetic Consultants
•  Medico-legal doctors
•  Football club doctors
•  Benefit agency doctors
•  Expedition doctors
•  Occupational Health doctors
•  Independent doctors without practising privileges
